I Declare!

The "Margaret Holmes" brand of canned, seasoned Collard Greens are fabulous.  We had Hoppin' John and Collard Greens to bring in the new year.  Sort of.  Husband slaved over bacon and omletes and English Muffins with Cherry Preserves and baked apples and coffee and orange juice.  What a way to start the new year!

Bits of tiny, mean snow.  Not the pretty fluffy stuff.  And it's windy and 12 degrees right now.  Where's Al Gore when you need him?

Made Oatmeal Raisin cookies, using the "not Kay" recipe.  I used one I found with shortening instead of butter.  The really smell great cooking, and they tasted pretty good, too.  Kinda crispy, tho.  I will try the next batch with the butter.

Happy New Year, everyone.  Good Riddance to last year.
